This morning we ate bacon and fried egg sandwiches on Middle Beach - 

I forgot for a while the yellow feather in my hand - 

We left our long shadows upon the sand - 

Sophie and Paul wore their happiness like suits of flowers - 

The sea was dark blue - 

White yachts sailed into the sky - 

I waited for my phone to ring - 

It lay, like a cruel shiny creature, upon the cafe table -
