For a moment I caught a glimpse of bright trees and jewelled birds ...

I nibbled garlicky kalamari whilst Richard told us of his sister's visit -

Saturday had been the anniversary of Pete's death -

In the book of remembrance there was a picture of a rock face with flowers he said -

Richard's brother had shared the air with peregrines -

Now Richard wore his brother's fleece -

Anne ate piquant mucver -

We heard anguished singing -

Outside The Bodrum night fell on the Victorian terraces -

Later, we drank porter in The Leopold -

Bull necked men were drinking Ghost Ship

The pub menu was blu tacked to the wall -

I wondered who last asked for chorizo and onion marmalade

Phil's got a flight to Bangkok Richard said -  I'm might go out with him - he's thinking of going on to Cambodia - then going up the river to Ventiane -

One of the pub doors was opened -

For a moment I caught a glimpse of bright trees and jewelled birds -
