The fish auction ...






The fishing boats had blue sails, furled when they approached the beach - bold fishermen, revving outboards, chose a wave to carry their boat onto the steeply shelving sand - 

Thin figures rushed forward, to heave the boats up the beach - one boat was called Saint Anthony

Soon circles of fishermen gathered around large silver fish - portly bellied men with stylish gold watches listened to the murmuring auctioneer -

Sticky hundred rupee notes were shared out amongst the boat crews - 

Darkness fell - the  fishermen's shacks, made out of blue plastic sheeting, looked as if the smallest breeze would blow them to Kansas -
