Getting a shirt made near Guruvayar ...

Jane and Sophie suggested that I get a shirt made - there was a nearby tailors where deft fingers could make you a garment within three or four days - 

I saw the Colonel, one morning, returning    with two splendid shirts - he warmly recommended the tailors - he told us that he knew every inch of Rajasthan - 

So we set out, just before sunset - an elephant walked down the road, amidst the hooting buses - a man drove past in a dusty Ambassador Classic - 

Somehow we managed to cross the road  - orange lorries with huge tyres grazed our sleeves - 

In the tailors, I chose some pale linen for the shirt - my measurements were taken

with a flickering tape measure -

As we were leaving, one of the tailors smiled shyly -
