He'd moored his houseboat here, within sight of Lady St Mary - 

His rollicking tales for boys had once sold in their tens of thousands -  

I remembered Bernie telling me that he'd read A Lad of Grit - 

We were in kitchen where a couple would soon tango amongst the poets - 

Bernie was laughing dangerously - 

He'd spend the cold months in Tenerife or Morocco - 

I think it was the night Richard was later trapped under a fallen bike in the hall -
