Inside there were pumpkins and werewolf masks -
I considered buying a vampire's cloak -
I remembered the goths I'd seen in Whitby, the black dresses, the steampunk goggles -
The abbey had overlooked the darkening sea -
Sleepwalkers climbed the moonlit steps -
A stone pier waited for a stricken ship -
The sky was as black as jet -
