We walked high above the reach of the herring gulls -
Ribbons were tied to a hawthorn bush -
Far below us a white yacht's sails caught the fleeting sunlight -
A bare legged woman ran through the fields of ripening wheat -
Swallows went before us along our cliff top path -
Above us was the boundless changing sky -
Behind us were the Victorian pier, the bandstand in the Italian Gardens -
