The flagstones shone beneath our feet ...



We walked from Cafe Oscar to the harbour

A month or so ago, I'd seen The Danish Girl with Anne - 

I half expected to see Lili on the quayside, smiling her wounded smile - 

I gazed at the narrow warehouses, the rain drops falling upon the water - 

Warm nests of bars tempted us anew - 

The sky was grey and cold - 

I counted the masts of sturdy barges - 

Umbrellas were held up against the rain - straight backed boys rode bicycles - 

Emma took Paul's photograph with her I phone - 

I wrapped my bright yellow scarf around my neck -

The flagstones shone beneath our feet -
