I walked past St Martin on the Walls ...

I walked past St Martins on the Walls -

Evening was coming to the gentle town -

Seagulls flew over rooftops - fires were lit in quiet rooms -

The young Irishman in The Kings Arms joshed craggy gaffers - plump glasses brimmed with Fortyniner

Trolleys were tethered outside Sainsburys -

A F Joy Men's Wear was closing -

Qashqais swept past, carrying tired dads homewards to ready meals -

I stood upon the stone bridge - the river was swollen with rain -

The flooded water meadows reflected the twilight sky -

Half a world away, Tessa and Charlie swam with dolphins -
