There was a Lowry in the lounge of memory -

Coming from the Mill above the sofa - 

I'd glance at it when Foyle's War was on -

ITV3 in the early evening - 

The white sky above the chimneys - 

The thin black figures - 

Stooped and hurrying - 

The yellow windows - 

Watching Timothy Spall in the movie, I thought of those long evenings - 

The actor took off his raincoat - 

Hung up his trilby -

His sigh filled the wounded house -
