Ancient taps had quivered under my fingers in Havana -
I'd counted the geckos on a bathroom ceiling in Fish Hoek -
I remembered bathing in Jane's pool in the moonlight -
There were stars floating upon the water -
A nightingale sang in the beautiful garden -
