We sat in a poignant diner ...






I passed Morris Men, their faces blackened, wearing savage coats of green feathers - 

Lean clog dancers danced - greybeards sold amulets -   

A schooner was anchored offshore in the rainswept bay -

I drank artisan coffee in the festival field - 

A girl sang songs about being lonely in Alabama - 

I walked through the seaside town to meet Anne - 

We sat in a poignant diner, gazing out at the forgiving sea -
