Beautiful clouds would later veil the stars ...





Night was coming to the seaside town - 

The streets were filling with gentle shadows - 

The quiet bay was a steely blue - 

Fitful breezes stirred the water - 

I looked up to see a tower room - 

Its windows were flung open to the twilight - 

A weathervane waited for the moon - 

I pictured a louche scholar looking down upon the still warm pavements - 

Books lay heaped upon a table - 

A scrimshawed walrus tusk weighed down a fantastic manuscript - 

Beautiful clouds would later veil the stars -
