Creech Barrow ...



We followed the narrow path upwards through waist high bracken - 

A dragonfly followed us - 

We breathed in the dizzying scent of tangled fronds - 

Dark clouds moved across the sky - 

We saw a kestrel from the summit of the hill - 

It hovered above the green world, beyond the need for names or song - 

Under the turf were hallowed bones - 

Rivers flowed into the pale harbour -

Cattle grazed on the windswept fields -

Soon we would hear thunder - 

Rain would fall upon the ancient land -
