Different stars ...

Mariners lie here -

Their bones remember storms and fragrant islands -

Dark skinned women gave them pearls -

There were different stars - 

Now they lie here - 

Their church is roofed by sky -

I hear their songs -

I taste the strange fruits they shared -

Their names are worn away by the years -

Yet I can feel those warm smooth pearls against my skin -
