For a while I walked with serpents - 

Watched sleepers dream in tangles of rose and thorn - 

I threw my arms around an almond tree -  

I saw a baleful head - 

The steps of golden stairs - 

I held my breath inside the caverns of the sea - 

I counted the last heart beats of a drowning boy -
