Feast my eyes on Piranesi -

A lean philosopher would whisper in my ear -

I read of Spitfires, barefoot and salty from the sea -

Pulled my gansey on - 

Curled up on the cushions - 

Lazy and sunburnt - 

Waiting for Anne - 

Water still dripping from her tawny skin -

Waiting for Fin, I remembered the sunlight on the esplanade -

The bright sea -

Your smile -

In the cafe, I'd held your hand for a moment -

The path wavered upwards from the sea - 

We scrambled over stones - 

Stunted trees gave us little shade - 

Lizards basked amongst the tangles of seared grass - 

On the summit, we stood on the broken walls -

We heard the wind - 

Looked down at the waves, far below - 

Listened for voices on the air -

Masts swayed as the wind freshened - 

Soon it would be dark -
