Return to Ravenscar ...
I read The Yorkshire Post once more in Ravenscar -
The log fire was smouldering in the grate -
There were daffodils in a glass -
I looked out over the wide bay -
White waves swept towards the shore -
The sky was full of rain -
There were the cliff tops we'd walked along -
The high path we'd followed, shadowed by seabirds -
Far away, the deep valleys -
The hare running across the moor -

Edith's house ...
There was a woolly bicycle hanging from the wall -
A painting of Edith Sitwell in a pristine room -
This I thought, was once her house -
I said the three names -
Edith -
Osbert -
Sacheverell -
There she was in the painting -
A red turban -
Her thin clever mouth -
That nose -
Those grey blue hooded eyes -

Leaving for the north ...
The river flowed through the city of many stories -
Each tongue I heard was different -
Glass towers reflected sunlight -
I read the names of all the muses -
Creatives lingered in the pristine gallery -
There were paintings which were like disturbing dreams -
Grey people lay in the pavements -
The long trains left the stations -
The sky joined both worlds together -
Where I was now -
Where I would be -

The Carvery ,..
We took off our flat caps in the bar -
Northerners were watching football on the screens -
Rain was falling on the darkening fields -
Liverpool were playing Everton -
Tuesday night, there would be comedy with a curry -
Later that week, live music from Alice in Thunderland -
