Flying to Dalaman ...

The white jet is crossing the twilight sky -

We look down upon mountains, wide rivers, darkening forests -

The cities of history are hazy labyrinths -

Up here, we can see the shape of the earth -

We can sense its heartbeat -

Our wings touch heaven -

We chase the sun -

We catch the moon -

The same sun is in the sky ...

I ring Richard up from South Beach -

He's with Jimmy in the quiet sunlit cemetery -

Later he'll wear his brother's homburg and long dark overcoat -

He'll say my name is Hans Scholl and I talk to you from my grave

I look out at the yachts moored just offshore -

The calm sea is a pale blue -

I think of that February day -

The same sun is in the sky -

Perhaps I breath the same air, passed from mouth to mouth -

I can say the same words -

Long live Freedom !

Es lebe Freiheit !

Last bunch of the day ...

Bright sunlight is falling upon the grey town -

It's the fifth of May -

There's a market winding down in The Old High Street -

Gulls fly over the roof of Iceland

A homeless man is wearing a straw pork pie hat -

He's shouting something -

Dads are wearing shorts -

Thefe are weird mannequins outside London Menswear

I hear a smallholder saying you have a free carrier bag with every purchase

He's a dark skinned handsome dude, joshing the black girls -

A pigeons cooing -

A slender tree has pale green leaves -

In Falkland Square a flower seller's chanting -

Last bunch of the day

Any bunch for three pound

End of the day

Last bunch of the day

Oranges from a fragrant tree ...

Soon the white jet will take me to the turquoise sea -

I'll read Hemingway on the gulet -

The choir will sing each morning -

I'll eat oranges from a fragrant tree -

New mornings ...

I'm idling in The Boston Tea Party -

There's a high laptop count

Salisbury creatives hone presentations -

There are a few beards -

Bright sunlight falls upon the narrow street -

The lampshades above our heads are glass teapots and coffee pots -

Knotted floorboards creak under summer Converses

Creatives murmur -

We snarf smoked salmon, scrambled egg and avocado on sourdough -

Tessa glances at her Samsun screen -

New beginnings -

New street names to learn -

New mornings in the attic bedroom -

Blue potatoes, pink potatoes ...

There were two gaffers joshing each other in the changing room -

One was a gasper, the other a whistler

I eavesdropped their conversation shamelessly -

You don't see any cows round here now said the gasper -

The whistler whistled -

Velcro crackled -

There used to be cows everywhere he said -

The farmer would come round with his tractor

I'd spend eight hours digging the manure into the garden

The digging is good for you said the gasper -

They say you never see a poor farmer

I've started planting potatoes said the whistler -

I plant unusual potatoes

Blue ones, pink ones

I get a lot of pleasure planting them -

Do you ? asked the gasper -

I do said the whistler -

After rain ...

There's blossom on the aple tree -

The sky is clearing after rain -

The bright lawn is splashed with shadow -

Daisies open their petals to the sun -

A bird sings hidden by pale greenery -

This moment is another pearl of memory -
